The film stars Adrian Pasdar and Chris Penn as two young men who decide to leave behind their working-class lives in the coal-mining country of Pennsylvania and travel to California. Along the way, they pick up a hitchhiker ( Lori Singer ) and embark on a crime spree.

Fed up with life in their dead-end town, Tuck (Chris Penn) and Dar (Adrian Pasdar) ditch Pennsylvania and head for sunny California in a stolen car. Along the way, they pick up wild hitchhiker Annie (Lori Singer), who turns them into genuine lawbreakers.
Made in U.S.A. (1987) is a bleak road movie in which two going-nowhere criminals con their way from the burning coal mines of Centralia, PA all the way to Los Angeles, all while set to a spacey score by noise rock icons Sonic Youth.
Desperate to find meaning in their lives, Tuck (Christopher Penn) and Dar (Adrian Pasdar), both from the same crumbling mining town in Pennsylvania, set out for the promised land of California.
