Arihia Kane Ngata, Lady Ngata, MBE (née Tāmati; 1879 – 18 April 1929) was a New Zealand community leader. Born at Whareponga, she married Āpirana Ngata at age sixteen, and together they had fifteen children.
Arihia Ngata is remembered particularly for her skill at rallying the young people of Ngāti Porou, and her home was a meeting place for them. The tennis courts were an attraction for young players, and Arihia gave her support to this and other sports, including rugby football, basketball and hockey.

20 de abr. de 2020 · Arihia Kane Tamati, who was to become Arihia Ngata, was born at Whareponga on the East Coast of the North Island, according to family information in 1879. She was the fourth of nine children of Mere Arihi Kakano and her husband, Tuta Tamati, who belonged to Te Aitanga-a-Mate hapu of Ngati Porou.
Arihia Ngata, Ngata's first wife. In 1895, a year before finishing his second degree (law), Ngata married 16-year-old Arihia Kane Tamati who was also of the Ngāti Porou iwi. Ngata had previously been engaged to Arihia's elder sister, Te Rina, but she died.

At the hui Ngata's eldest son, Mākarini, contracted dysentery and Ngata's wife, Arihia, nursing him at home, caught it too. Both died before they could get proper medicine. Ngata was devastated, and for a time there was bad blood between Ngāti Porou and Tainui.
