Thomas Clinton, 3rd Earl of Lincoln (1568 – 15 January 1619), was an English peer, styled Lord Clinton from 1585 to 1616. Life. Educated at Oxford (MA 1588), Clinton represented the constituencies of Lincolnshire in 1601 and Great Grimsby from 1604 to 1610.
When Thomas Fiennes de Clinton III Earl of Lincoln was born on 13 March 1568, in Tattershall, Lincolnshire, England, his father, Sir Henry Fiennes de Clinton 2nd Earl of Lincoln, was 28 and his mother, Lady Catherine Hastings, was 25.

He assumed by Royal Licence the additional surname of Pelham the same year. The Duke's two elder sons, George Pelham-Clinton, Lord Clinton, and Henry Pelham-Clinton, Earl of Lincoln, both predeceased him. He was therefore succeeded by his third son, the third Duke, who was a Major-General in the Army.
Edward Clinton, 9th Baron Clinton was created Earl of Lincoln in 1572. The titles remained united until 1692 upon the death of his great-great-great-grandson, Edward de Clinton, fifth Earl of Lincoln and 13th Baron Clinton.
Biography. Clinton’s ancestors, established in Warwickshire since the reign of Henry I, were raised to the peerage in 1299, and first represented that county in Parliament in 1301.
On his death the Barony of Clinton fell into abeyance between the descendants of his three aunts: Lady Catharine Booth, Lady Delamere; Lady Arabella Rolle; and Lady Margaret Boscawen.
