Woolverstone Hall School. Coordinates: 52°00′10″N 1°11′43″E. In the early 1950s the London County Council obtained use of Woolverstone Hall near Ipswich, Suffolk, and some 50 acres (200,000 m 2) of adjoining land for the purpose of establishing a secondary grammar boarding school for London boys.
Woolverstone Hall is a large country house, now in use as a school [1] and available at times as a function venue, [2] located 5 miles (8.0 km) south of the centre of Ipswich, Suffolk, England. It is set in 80 acres (320,000 m 2) on the banks of the River Orwell.
Woolverstone Hall School was London County Council's boarding school near Ipswich. the large mansion was initially built for the Berners family in 1776, but was acquired by the L.C.C. in 1951 - London Picture Archive
We were the successors of the boarding wing of the London Nautical School which had been at Woolverstone since 1947. This has been training boys to go to sea either in the Royal Navy or in the Merchant Navy, and their age range at the school was 12 to 16.

Woolverstone Hall is a Grade I listed Palladian building on the River Orwell, with a tale of monkeys and a naval history. It is also a school, a theatre and a wedding venue in Suffolk.
