The band moved to Atco Records the next year. This album is the last James Gang recording featuring guitarist Domenic Troiano, who was replaced by Tommy Bolin .

  7. After the new line-up pushed out Straight Shooter in July of 1972, the James Gang returned with their second studio LP from '72, with the release of Passin' Thru in October. Recorded in Nashville, at Quadraphonic Studios, and in Van Nuys, at Studio City Studios, the nine song recording is filled out with numbers penned by Kenner and Troiano.
