Em 1733, o quinto conde sucedeu o título Duque de Marlborough, com o qual o condado foi desde então incorporado. Tornou-se um título de cortesia para o herdeiro aparente do herdeiro aparente do Ducado. Os condes detinham ainda o título subsidiário Barão Spencer ( 1603 ).
