By 1971, the band also included bassist Cedric Martin, keyboardist Danny "Sweet Man" Thomas, trumpeter Karl Fuller, and woodwinds player Paul "Maceo" Harrell. Soon thereafter, this fledgling group's classic lineup became complete when lead vocals/multi-instrumentalist Felton Pilate came on board.

With Louis on drums and percussion and Michael providing lead vocals and lead guitar, the group went on to include Karl Fuller (trumpet), Paul Harrell (saxophone/flute), Cedric Martin (bass guitar), Danny Thomas (keyboards), and Felton C. Pilate II (trombone/lead vocals).
The Kirschental bloodline was developed by Karl Fuller in Germany. The name Kirschental is from Stettbach, Germany which is known for its beautiful countryside and abundance of cherry trees. Karl Fuller dedicated his life to improving the German Shepherd Dog.
