Abuse of power or abuse of authority, in the form of "malfeasance in office" or "official abuse of power", is the commission of an unlawful act, done in an official capacity, which affects the performance of official duties.

18 de ago. de 2023 · Some of the most tragic cases of abuse of power occur within private homes, against the most vulnerable members of society. It can take the form of economic, emotional, physical, and sexual abuse, as well as coercively controlling behavior or, in the case of children or the elderly, neglect.
By recognizing and defining school bullying as an abuse of power and a violation of human rights, Olweus has laid the foundation and created the impetus for researching and addressing bullying. This review highlights the importance of examining abuses of power not only in school relationships, but across human relationships and society in general.
1 de abr. de 2024 · We investigate power abuse, understood as the use of power for personal gain, of a single punisher in a public-goods game subject to variations in punishment power and contribution transparency. Using a laboratory experiment we find a high amount of abuse across all conditions.
