  1. In a rare find, Kenny Kirkland appears on an obscure album by saxophonist Courtney Pine, “Within the Realms of Our Dreams” (1990). They burn right down the pike on the standard Charlie Parker tune “Donna Lee,” and Kenny shows his ability to hang at the fast tempo while implementing some gnarly post-bop vocabulary.

  3. In 1985 Kirkland (alongside Branford Marsalis) joined the Blue Turtles, the jazz-pop studio-and-touring backing band put together by Sting to perform the latter's post-Police solo work and which can be heard on his first two solo releases The Dream of the Blue Turtles and Bring on the Night.
