Walter Sydney Adams ( Antioquia, 20 de dezembro de 1876 — Pasadena, 11 de maio de 1956) foi um astrônomo norte-americano . Nasceu na Síria, filho de pais missionários, e se mudou para os Estados Unidos em 1885. Graduou-se pelo Dartmouth College em 1898 e continuou seus estudos na Alemanha.

In 1970 he was national runner-up and ran on the winning 4×800 m relay team. Adams equaled the European record over 800 m in 1970 and helped set two world records in the 4×800 m relay (1966) and the 4×880 yds. relay (1968).
