  1. Mulgrew Miller (August 13, 1955 – May 29, 2013) was an American jazz pianist, composer, and educator. As a child he played in churches and was influenced on piano by Ramsey Lewis and then Oscar Peterson.

  4. Tony Williams was very interested in free jazz and jazz-rock, but this recording is very mainstream, melodic, lyrical and accessible. Of course the fronting is done by Mulgrew Miller. This SA-CD is very much in the vein of the Bill Evans trio's, though Miller's style is more punchy or percussive.

  5. Tony chose Mulgrew and Ira Coleman to do the casual standards date Young At Heart, which seems distantly related to all those Japanese albums Tony made with Hank Jones and Ron Carter. It’s not right that this was Tony’s last record before he died at 51—just as it’s not right that Mulgrew died recently at 57.

  7. 6 de mar. de 2014 · At the Kennedy Center Jazz Club, the trio plays everything from bebop classics to Cole Porter and Thelonious Monk. Mulgrew's take on the timeless ballad "My Foolish Heart" is unforgettable.
