I'm So Confused was produced by Ric Ocasek. Darryl Jenifer played bass on the album. Critical reception. The Austin Chronicle opined that Ocasek "takes Richman and drummer Tommy Larkins' two-man-band simplicity and augments it with just the right amount of bass and light keyboards."

16 de out. de 1998 · Ex-Cars leader (and fellow Bostonian) Ric Ocasek refreshed Richman’s sound as producer, adding a more contemporary ambiance through tasty dabs of synthesizer. Jonathan rose to the occasion by coming up with his strongest batch of songs in years.
