Shiplake College is a private boarding and day school in Shiplake, by the River Thames, just outside Henley-on-Thames, England. The school, with 520 pupils, takes boys from 11–18 and girls from 16–18. From September 2023 girls will join Year 7 as the school transitions to become fully co-educational by 2027. [1]
Shiplake College has evolved and moved forward since its founding in 1959 but many principles remain the same. We aim to admit a well-balanced range of pupils with a variety of skills and talents, who can make the most of the many opportunities we offer them.
The College's sixth Headmaster, Gregg Davies, joined Shiplake in 2004 and during the course of the next 15 years saw the College through a period of transformation and success. Greater academic rigour and investment in energetic, forward-thinking and technology-embracing staff elicited a relentless upward trend in exam results and value-added scores.
