Strir Patra (also Streer Patra; English: A Wife's Letter) is a 1972 Bengali film, directed by Purnendu Patri, based on a short story by Rabindranath Tagore. Madhabi Mukherjee plays the lead role. Tagore's story, first published in 1914, is considered to be a path-breaking feminist text.

24 de mar. de 2013 · Abstract. Tagore’s famous short story, ‘Streer Patra’, highlights the suffering, ignominy and neglect that women have to face in a male dominated society. Although set in late nineteenth century Kolkata, Tagore’s story has relevance for the discerning reader even today.
This paper focuses on three of Tagore's female protagonists-Mrinmayi, Uma and Mrinal-from The Conclusion (Samapti), Exercise-Book (Khata) and The Wife's Letter (Streer Patra) to show how their repeated individual scripting are mercilessly thwarted by social interventions. Download Free PDF.
