Duke Franz Joseph in Bavaria, full German name: Franz Joseph Michael Karl Maria Evaristus Quirinus Ottokar Herzog in Bayern (23 March 1888, Schloss Tegernsee, Kingdom of Bavaria – 23 September 1912, Munich, Kingdom of Bavaria) was a Duke in Bavaria and member of the House of Wittelsbach.
Franz, Duke of Bavaria (born 1933), first son of Albrecht, Duke of Bavaria (1905-1996) and Countess Maria Draskovich of Trakostjan (1904-1969) and the dynasty head, not adopted by his grand-uncle Ludwig Wilhelm, but heir presumptive to his brother; Franz Josef (1888-1912).

Franz Bonaventura Adalbert Maria Herzog von Bayern (born 14 July 1933), commonly known by the courtesy title Duke of Bavaria, is the head of the House of Wittelsbach, the former ruling family of the Kingdom of Bavaria. His great-grandfather King Ludwig III was the last ruling monarch of Bavaria, being deposed in 1918.

Franz Joseph was married to his cousin Elisabeth of Bavaria, who was regarded as the most beautiful princess in Europe. They had four children: Sophie, Gisela, Rudolf , and Marie Valerie. Rudolf, the heir apparent, shot himself in a suicide love pact in 1889.
