Sohn Hak-kyu (Korean: 손학규; born 22 November 1947) is a South Korean politician and the former governor of Gyeonggi-do, the most populous province in Korea. He became a politician in 1996 as a congressman of Grand National Party, and became a governor of Gyeonggi-do in 2002.

Biography. Hak-kyu Sohn joins the Shorenstein Asia-Pacific Research Center as a Visiting Scholar during the 2017-18 academic year. Sohn is founder and chairman of East Asia Future Foundation; former chairman of the Democratic Party; and former governor of Gyeonggi Province, in South Korea.
