Zouzou is a French film by Marc Allégret released in 1934. Josephine Baker, who plays the title character, was the first black woman to play the leading role in a major motion picture. It was shot at the Joinville Studios in Paris, with sets designed by the art directors Lazare Meerson and Alexandre Trauner.
Josephine Baker left the United States to escape the racism here, moving to France. In Paris she became a sensation. Her talent is on display in Marc Allégret's "Zouzou".
