Armando Anthony "Chick" Corea (June 12, 1941 – February 9, 2021) was an American jazz pianist, composer, bandleader and occasional percussionist. His compositions "Spain", "500 Miles High", "La Fiesta", "Armando's Rhumba" and "Windows" are widely considered jazz standards.

13 de fev. de 2021 · Bassist John Patitucci was in his mid-20s and based in Los Angeles when the legendary jazz pianist Chick Corea invited him to join a new band he was forming. Patitucci soon found himself rehearsing with the influential composer and improviser, along with another young musician, drummer Dave Weckl.
From the mid-1980s to the mid-1990s he was a member of three Chick Corea groups: the Elektric Band, the Akoustic Band, and the quartet. As a leader he formed a trio with Joey Calderazzo and Peter Erskine, and a quartet with Vinnie Colaiuta, Steve Tavaglione, and John Beasley. He has played with Herbie Hancock, Wayne Shorter, and Roy Haynes.
The Chick Corea Elektric Band. Electric Jazz is Re-invented. Through the remainder of the '80s and into the '90s, Corea returned to the fusion arena with a vengeance with his Elektric Band, featuring drummer Dave Weckl, saxophonist Eric Marienthal, bassist John Patitucci and guitarist Frank Gambale.
