This "extreme universe" refers to the extreme conditions of the natural world, and includes the following three targets: (i) quantum theory of Black holes (i.e. the limit of space), (ii) quantum theory of Cosmology (i.e. the limit of time), (iii) Dynamics of quantum matter (i.e. the limit of matter).

The Extreme Universe is made up of the comics published by Extreme Studios, Awesome Comics and Awesome Entertainment. It first appeared in 1992's Youngblood #1 and was created by Image Comics co-founder Rob Liefeld.
The Extreme Universe is made up of several reboots anchored to Ethan Crane, the man who invariably becomes Supreme in each revision of the world. The original Supreme was born in 1920, obtained his powers in 1930 and fought evil in Omega City until 1941, when his world was revised and he was left in a white limbo. The second iteration of the world lasted until 1945, when a second Supreme joined the original in limbo. Many others followed, such as Sally Supreme from the 'forties, Squeak the Supremouse, the 'fifties Supreme, and Scrappy Supreme and the other two Sergeants Supreme. In 1968, The Supreme Supreme was revised out of history and landed in limbo, bringing his home planet Supron with him. He rallied the others to use its raw materials to build a new dimension, the Supremacy, and became king among the Supremes. Over the next 24 years, they were joined by others like Superion in the late sixties, Sister Supreme in the seventies, Macrosupreme, Sirius the Stallion Supreme, Supreme White, Supreme Gold, Supreme-of-the-Future, Fat Supreme, Meka-Supreme, Grim 'eighties Supreme, and all their sidekicks, love interests and friends.
In 1992, the world was revised again, giving place to Rob Liefeld's original Extreme Universe. This lasted until 1996, when the Extreme Universe split from the larger Image Universe in Shattered Image, and Alan Moore wrote the new revision in Supreme #41. His new world lasted until 2012, when Erik Larsen wrote a new revision in Supreme #64. Although published several years later, Supreme Blue Rose, written by Warren Ellis, showed how Larsen's revision only lasted a few months and how it gave way to the modern Extreme Universe. In 2022, Joe Casey dealt with the loss of Youngblood's rights by replacing them with a new team called Blood Squad Seven in a new revision that saw its beginnings in Image! #5.
