Located in the filmmaking capital of the world, the AFI Conservatory is nestled in the hills overlooking Hollywood. The picturesque eight-acre campus is in the center of the professional filmmaking community with easy access to studios, networks and post-production facilities.
The AFI Conservatory is a private non-profit graduate film school in the Hollywood Hills district of Los Angeles. Students (called "Fellows") learn from the masters in a collaborative, hands-on production environment with an emphasis on storytelling. The Conservatory is a program of the American Film Institute founded in 1969.

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE – August 9, 2023, Los Angeles, CA – Today, the AFI Conservatory was named the #1 film school in The Hollywood Reporter’s annual list of the top film schools in the nation. The honor marks the second year in a row that the Conservatory has earned the top spot.
The AFI Campus is located in the Hollywood hills overlooking Los Angeles. Our address is 2021 North Western Avenue, Los Angeles, CA 90027. The AFI entrance is shared with the main entrance to Immaculate Heart High School and Middle School.
