Charles Washington (May 2, 1738 – September 16, 1799) was an American planter and politician who founded a town in the Shenandoah Valley that was named Charles Town in his honor shortly after his death and that of his eldest brother, George Washington.
Charles Washington (1738-1799) was George Washington’s youngest brother. Born at Little Hunting Creek, which his elder half-brother Lawrence would later rename Mount Vernon, Charles was still an infant when the family moved to Ferry Farm outside of Fredericksburg, Virginia.

Charles Washington (1738-1799) George was the eldest of his full siblings, four of whom lived to adulthood: Elizabeth, Samuel, John Augustine, and Charles. George’s only surviving sister, Elizabeth (Betty), married the widower Fielding Lewis in 1750 and had eleven children.
