Vladimir Ilyich Ulyanov (Lenin), born in Simbirsk (now Ulyanovak). Lenin is accepted into Simbirsk classical Gymnasium. Ilya Nikolayevich Ulyanov, Lenin's father, dies. Lenin's elder brother, Alexander Ilyich Ulyanov, is arrested for participating in an attempt on the life of Alexander III.
