The Thanksgiving Visitor is a short story by Truman Capote originally published in the November 1967 issue of McCall's magazine, and later published as a book by Random House, Inc. in 1968. The story takes the form of a childhood tale about a boy and his bully problem.

Truman Capote's short story "The Thanksgiving Visitor" is one of his three holiday pieces, along with "A Christmas Memory" and "One Christmas". It depicts a boy who invites his schoolyard tormentor to his family's Thanksgiving dinner, and explores themes of vulnerability, tenderness and impermanence.
Buddy and his closest friend, his eccentric elderly cousin, Miss Sook--the memorable characters from Capote's A Christmas Memory--love preparing their old country house for Thanksgiving. But this year, there's trouble in the air.
