Graziella è una dolce e romantica creatura, nipote di poveri pescatori, che il poeta Alphonse de Lamartine incontra durante il soggiorno all'isola di Procida. Tra i due giovani nasce l'amore e Graziella aspetta fiduciosa che Alphonse, ripartito per Parigi, torni a riprenderla.
