Yunnan Military Academy and School is a famous military academy school in modern history of China. In 1983, it was listed as the provincial key cultural relics conservation units. In 1988, the State Council announced it as the national key cultural relics protection units.

Yunnan Military Academy was founded in 1909 in Kunming. This academy is among the first batch of military schools in China. In total, the academy had different 22 classes and more than 9000 trainees until 1935, the year it ceased operating due to the Second Sino-Japanese War.

Situated on an expansive 18,000 square meter plot with a building area spanning 7,611 square meters, the Kunming Military Museum (昆明军事博物馆), housed in the Former Site of Yunnan Military Academy, stands as a testament to China’s military heritage.
A free entry museum （讲武堂）on western side of Green Lake with mostly Chinese explanations. Describes the history of the academy (eg General Zhu De trained here) and the joint efforts of US Air Force 飞虎队and Chinese (!) in combatting Japanese in WW2. Very informative and engaging tour guide by one of their cadets, again in Chinese.
