Whistling in the Dark is a 1941 American comedy film directed by S. Sylvan Simon. It is the first of three films starring Red Skelton as Wally "the Fox" Benton, who writes and acts in radio murder mysteries.

Whistling in the Dark (1941) was the first feature film to star comedian Red Skelton in the lead, and was a surprise hit for Metro-Goldwyn-Mayer; its success meant that the vaudeville and radio comic would enjoy a healthy movie career throughout the 1940s and into the 1950s as well.

Overview. The operators of 'Silver Haven', a cultish group bilking gullible rich people out of money, is set to inherit a large sum after the deceased woman's heir also dies. Leader Joesph Jones decides to hurry the process along and kidnaps Wally Benton, his fiancé, and a friend, to further this goal.
