Em 4 de junho de 1337, em Paris, casou-se com Joana de Penthièvre, filha de Guido de Penthièvre, sobrinha do duque João III da Bretanha.
Giovanna di Penthièvre, conhecida como La Zoppa ( 1319 - Guingamp, 10 de setembro de 1384), reinou sobre o Ducado da Bretanha, com eventos alternados, de 1341 a 1365, junto com seu marido.
