  2. Description. The Marquess wears military uniform under the mantle and collar of the order of the Garter. He had been made a Knight of the Garter on 6 July 1857. He was a Member of Parliament from 1818-35, Lord-Lieutenant of Cheshire 1845-67 and Lord Steward 1850-2.
