Herbert Berghof ( 13 de setembro de 1909 — 5 de novembro de 1990) foi um ator, diretor e escritor de teatro. Nascido em Viena, Áustria, Berghof formou-se em Artes Dramáicas, pela Universidade de Viena. Era um discípulo de Max Reinhardt e, dessa forma, também dedicou sua vida ao teatro.

Herbert Berghof was a Broadway actor and director who fled Nazi Germany and founded HB Studio in 1945. He taught acting with Uta Hagen, who became his wife and co-author of influential books on acting.
The HB Studio was already a thriving fixture in the New York City cultural landscape when in 1965 Herbert Berghof and Uta Hagen realized their dream of establishing a theatre. From his work on the film Cleopatra, Berghof earned the money to purchase the one-story garage that was converted into an 80-seat performance space.
