Lord William Charles Augustus Cavendish-Bentinck (20 May 1780 – 28 April 1826), known as Lord Charles Bentinck, was a British soldier and politician and a great-great-grandfather of Queen Elizabeth II.
Its members have served in the armed forces and as ambassadors and politicians, including as Governor General of India and as Prime Minister of the United Kingdom. The family is related to the British royal family through the maternal Cavendish-Bentinck line of Queen Elizabeth The Queen Mother .

Lieutenant-Colonel Lord Charles died on 19 June 1956. The photo shows him as a lieutenant in the 9th Lancers. He has gold cord aiguillettes to signify his appointment as ADC to the Lord Lieutenant of Ireland as from 6 Oct 1894.
Biography. Lord Charles Bentinck, as he was known, remains a shadowy figure, remembered only as one of the principals in the celebrated Abdy divorce case. He was elected a member of Brooks’s in March 1804.
