Fort Taylor was placed on the National Register of Historic Places in 1971 and designated a National Historic Landmark in 1973. Due to the filling in of land around the fort, including the creation of an attractive stretch of beach, the park now occupies 87 acres (35 ha).

Fort Zachary Taylor State Park é considerada a melhor praia de Key West. É um passeio pro dia inteiro. Entre pra saber tudo sobre o parque e o que você precisa antes de ir.
jul. de 2023. O Fort é repleto de história da guerra e tem um tour guiado que vale muito a pena, pois é rica em detalhes, mas tem que saber Inglês para o tour. Neste mesmo local você tem acesso a praia que é uma das melhores de Key West, água transparente, parece uma pisicna. Leia mais.
