Founded in 1919, the School is a center for teaching and research in architectural design, history, and theory. [1] The School offers an undergraduate concentration (equivalent of major) and advanced degrees at the master's and doctoral levels.
The School of Architecture's undergraduate program is known for its rigorous and interdisciplinary approach to pre-professional education within the framework of a liberal arts curriculum. The master’s degree has both a professional and a post-professional track, emphasizing design expertise in the context of architectural scholarship.

The architecture program provides a foundation in architecture, landscape architecture, urban planning, historic preservation and related fields of study. In particular, the program prepares students for further study at the graduate level in design and the history and theory of art or architecture.
In addition to architectural design and the history and theory of architecture and urbanism, undergraduates study a range of disciplines that contribute to an architect’s knowledge and vision, including courses in architectural analysis, representation, computing, and building technologies.
