From her birth in 1775 until her family moved to Bath in 1801, Jane Austen spent most of her time in a small triangle of villages: Steventon, Ashe, and Deane. Her father was rector of both Steventon and Deane, leading services and preaching at both parish churches, and serving the people of both communities.

Overall, I prefer Wuthering Heights and Jane Eyre. Jane Eyre probably my most favorite, but Wuthering Heights is one of a kind. In a similar category, I would include North and South by Gaskell, and Tess of the D'Urbervilles and Far From the Madding Crowd by Hardy. I liked these better than the Austen books as well
