Cicadas are out in full force around mid-Missouri, after billions emerged this spring. According to MU Extension Specialist Tamra Reall, this year's emergence of the bug has been particularly unique due to the types of Cicadas coming out of hibernation.
I want to make sure these broods have a successful season, so next time they come around it's just as majestic as this year. I have two older trees that are crawling with these guys and I am fascinated watching them emerge. I understand they lay eggs in specifically small sized soft branches, then the nymphs fall to the ground and burrow.
