Philip Herbert, 4th Earl of Pembroke and 1st Earl of Montgomery, KG, KB, PC (10 October 1584 – 23 January 1650) was an English courtier, nobleman, and politician active during the reigns of James I and Charles I.
Philip Herbert, 4th Earl of Pembroke. (1584-1650), Courtier. Sitter associated with 25 portraits. A favourite of James I, Pembroke was, with his brother William, the 3rd Earl, one of the 'incomparable paire of brethren' to whom the First Folio of Shakespeare's plays is dedicated (1623).
