[2] In 1477 Edward married Anne, daughter and heir to Sir Thomas Cobham,Kt., 5th Baron Cobham and Anne Stafford. Anne Cobham was the widow of Edward Blount, Lord Montjoy. [1] According to Richardson, they had two known sons, Thomas, Lord Burgh and Henry.
It had been thought that Catherine married the elderly Edward Burgh, 2nd Baron Burgh in 1529, at the age of 17, but the 2nd Baron died in August 1528. [1] [2] More recent research of documents and the will of Catherine's mother by biographers Susan James, Linda Porter, David Starkey, and Alison Weir all confirm that she married the 2nd Baron's grandson, who shared his first name.
Whatever Sir Thomas Burgh's influence over Katherine was, it proved short-lived, as Edward Burgh died in the Spring of 1533 in his early twenties, leaving Katherine widowed before she was twenty-one. Katherine's religious attitudes are considered in more depth in this article here .
