Born 23 May 1922, she obtained a B.A. from Brooklyn College in 1942, an M.S. from the University of Rochester in 1945, and a Ph.D. in 1948, from the University of Chicago, all in Physics. Most of Conwell's professional career was spent doing research in industry.
Abstract. Esther Conwell made many scientific contributions to semiconductor research. She worked as an industrial scientist for many years at GTE Laboratories (1952-1972) and Xerox (1972-1998). Her institutional affiliations included University of Rochester and University of Chicago.
