Frederick Ponsonby, 10th Earl of Bessborough. Frederick Edward Neuflize "Eric" Ponsonby, 10th Earl of Bessborough DL (29 March 1913 – 5 December 1993), styled Viscount Duncannon from 1920 to 1956, was a British diplomat, businessman, playwright, Conservative politician, and peer.
Frederick Ponsonby, 3rd Earl of Bessborough DCL (24 January 1758 – 3 February 1844), styled the Viscount Duncannon from 1758 to 1793, was an Anglo-Irish peer.
The present holders – Frederick Ponsonby, 4th Baron Ponsonby of Shulbrede, and Rupert Ponsonby, 7th Baron de Mauley – are both fifth cousins of the 12th Earl of Bessborough (and of each other, both being descendants of younger sons of the 3rd Earl; see chart below).

Frederick Ponsonby, a politician and landowner, was born on 24 January 1758, at 1 Cavendish Square, London. He was the fifth and only surviving son of William Ponsonby, second earl of Bessborough (1704–1793), and his wife, Lady Caroline Cavendish (1719–1760), daughter of the third duke of Devonshire.
