São Paulo - O americano Ray Tomlinson, considerado o "pai dos e-mails", morreu na manhã de ontem (5). Ele tinha 74 anos. A suspeita é que ele tenha sofrido um ataque cardíaco. Tomlinson não criou o correio eletrônico em si, mas deu a sua "cara definitiva". Em 1971, inventou o modelo de inserir o "@" separando os nomes no endereço.
Além disso, Tomlinson foi coautor do RFC-561, primeiro padrão para mensagens de e-mail: criado em 1973, ele definiu vários dos campos que usamos até hoje, como “de”, “assunto” e “data”.
