Alfred James Golden Jr. (born July 4, 1969) is an American football coach and former tight end who is the defensive coordinator of the Notre Dame Fighting Irish. He served as the head football coach for the Temple Owls from 2006 to 2010 and the Miami Hurricanes from 2011 to 2015.
Golden was a three-year letter winner and two-year starter at tight end at Penn State. He was the 1991 recipient of Penn State’s Ridge Riley Award, given annually to a football player who displays excellence in scholarship, sportsmanship, friendship and leadership.
