Leon Goldman was much in demand as a speaker at professional meetings and postgraduate courses. In addition he maintained a consistently high level of contributions to the literature of surgery through both research papers and clinical reports to improve the practice and teaching of surgery.

Dr. Leon Goldman, a 1930 graduate of the University of Cincinnati College of Medicine, pioneered the use of laser medical treatment in the 1960s and performed the first laser surgery in 1966 on a melanoma patient. He went on to found the American Society of Laser Medicine and Surgery and become the director of the Jewish Hospital Laser Center.
