24 de mar. de 2023 · The castle, originally built in the late 1600s but largely remodelled in the 1760s, was bought by Earl Swinton’s ancestor, Samuel Cunliffe-Lister, 1st Baron Masham, in 1888. In the 1920s, Samuel’s granddaughter, Mary Constance ‘Molly’ Boynton, and her husband, Philip, came to live at Swinton and took the name of Cunliffe-Lister.
