Cecil Fielder (51 home runs in 1990) and Prince Fielder (50 home runs in 2007) are the only father and son in baseball history to each have a 50-home run season. Up until 2021, they were also the only duo with a 40-home run season as well, since joined by Vladimir Guerrero Jr. (48 home runs in 2021) & Vladimir Guerrero (42 home runs in 1999, 44 home runs in 2000).

Cecil Fielder broke in with the Blue Jays in 1985 and couldn’t find his place in the lineup. As part-time player for four seasons, Fielder combined to hit 31 homers and drive in 84 runs in 220 games in Toronto. On December 22, 1988 Japan’s Hanshin Fighters offered him $1M and a job as their everyday first baseman. Fielder jumped at the chance.
