El Trinity fue fundado en 1555 por Sir Thomas Pope, en unas tierras compradas tras la abolición del Durham College durante el período de la Reforma Protestante, cuyos edificios albergan la fundación original. Trinity College’s main entrance is enclosed by an iron palisade rather than a wall, and the distinctive blue gates provide it with a more open and accessible appearance than many others in Oxford. The Durham Quadrangle. Durham College (the original Benedictine college from 1291) was built around a single quadrangle, now known as the Durham quad.
We are delighted to announce that Sir Robert Chote will be its next President. He will take up the position of President of Trinity College Oxford on 1 September 2025, succeeding Dame Hilary Boulding. Sir Robert is is a leading economist with a distinguished career, most notably informing and scrutinising fiscal policy.
