7 de mai. de 2012 · Artist and writer Angelica Garnett, daughter of Vanessa Bell and Duncan Grant, was born at Charleston Farmhouse on Christmas Day 1918 and weighed in a shoebox on the kitchen scales. She spent the last 30 years of her life in Forcalquier, France, and she died May 4, 2012, in a French hospital after a short illness.

Angelica Garnett (1918–2012) National Trust, Monk's House. Artist, daughter of the painter Vanessa Bell, born at Charleston Farmhouse, Firle, Sussex. In 1936 she attended the London Theatre Studio drama school, in 1938 the Euston Road School to study art, which she then taught at Langford Grove School, 1940.
Her wariness is understandable: Angelica Garnett is so defined as a child of Bloomsbury that she has never escaped the curiosity of people who see her as a historical, rather than a topical, figure. When we meet though, supposedly to discuss the latest London exhibition of her vivid abstract paintings and charcoal drawings, she isn’t at all reticent to retell her fascinating life story.
