They had six children. Following the Easter Rising, Connolly visited her husband twice in Dublin Castle Hospital before his execution on 12 th May. Their daughter Nora, who was present on the latter occasion, recalled one of their final interactions: “Mama could hardly talk. I remember he said: “Don’t cry, Lillie. You will unman me”.
Connolly, Roderic James (‘Roddy’) (1901–80), socialist, trade unionist, and politician, was born 11 February 1901 at 54 Pimlico, Dublin, only son and sixth among seven children of James Connolly (qv), native of Edinburgh, Scotland, the socialist republican revolutionary, and Lillie Connolly (née Reynolds), native of Carnew, Co. Wicklow.

22 de mai. de 2018 · Connolly’s daughter, the late Nora Connolly O’Brien, variously a senator of Ireland and graduate of the Sorbonne in Paris, recalled her last sight of her father almost 50 years later. She spoke on a television documentary about him in 1965, saying: “We got in to see my father, and he said, ‘Well Lillie, I suppose you know what this means.’
