Ministry of Defence (MoD) Formed in Apr 1997 as a Joint Services helicopter flying training service, under the Private Finance Initiative. Civilian contractors run a fleet of civilian owned, military registered (COMAR) training airframes under contract to MoD. Covers basic single engine to advanced multi-engine & SAR training.
In February 2020, the Defence Helicopter Flying School based at RAF Shawbury in Shropshire, was renamed No. 1 Flying Training School and operates 29 Airbus H135 'Juno' and 3 Airbus H145 'Jupiter'. As well as gaining flying skills helicopter pupils also take survival and leadership courses. All helicopter training is carried out at the Defence Helicopter Flying School, RAF Shawbury, which provides instruction for pupils from all three Services using the the Bell Griffin HT1 and Eurocopter Squirrel HT1.

This graduation marks another important milestone within the rotary element of UK Military Flying Training System (UKMFTS). The Graduates with the Reviewing Officer Air Vice-Marshal Warren James.
