Generally, I think world schooling, and I immediately think “families who travel the world and school their kids while they travel.” Still, I also think it’s a concept. You can worldschool at home. I think it’s just a way of teaching your children. And you can do it while traveling the world or while living in one tiny part of it.
In its simplest form, worldschooling is the act of intentionally learning from the world. Worldschooling combines multi-age and experiential learning with travel and/or cultural experiences to facilitate learning and discovery. The term worldschooling was coined over a decade ago and has been used by thousands of families since.
Carol Black’s 2010 documentary Schooling The World is a harsh look into the world of western education being brought into rural India. This documentary takes a serious look into the motives of bringing education to the Himalayas and surrounding rural areas of India. It focuses on the village of Hemis Shukpa-Chen and the Ladakhi people.
