Starling Javier Marte (born October 9, 1988) is a Dominican professional baseball outfielder for the New York Mets of Major League Baseball (MLB). He previously played in MLB for the Pittsburgh Pirates , Arizona Diamondbacks , Miami Marlins , and Oakland Athletics .

Wednesday, Marte took a Major League field for the first time since August, feeling like himself for the first time in far longer. “I want to reintroduce myself to the player I’ve always been,” he said afterward through an interpreter.

But he's been prolific at every stop, hitting .297/.357/.472 (122 OPS+) with 41 homers and 82 steals over that span. That production has reportedly landed him a four-year, $78 million deal with the Mets.
