Cardan is in a power position, being a prince and all, however the dynamic is switched. Jude gets the upper hand and keeps it that way for at least 3/5ths of the series. Second, there's the fact that Jude doesn't "fix him". That trope is never even considered. Jude doesn't fix Cardan. He gets a bit better on his own.

Jude and Taryn attend lessons with their peers from the families of the faerie King’s court. In Faerie, Jude and Taryn are tormented by one of the King’s six children—the arrogant prince Cardan—and his group of friends.
